This is the second piece in a series of Piano Quartets made possible by a scholarship from Förderverein für Kunst, Medien und Forschung e.V.

The title is a play on words with a technical origin. The main theme of the piece predominantly features the pentatonic scale. However, surprises from various scales and modes are sprinkled throughout, adding unexpected turns to the composition. Harmony plays a significant role in enhancing the richness and unpredictability of the pentatonic scale. At times, chords are derived directly from the pentatonic scale, while at other times, they incorporate chord tones from different scales and modes.
