Leading up to the premiere of my symphonic poem 'Der Hirschsprung,' I reached out to Mihai Corodan, the tubist for the concert. During our brief conversations, he expressed a keen interest in premiering a more chamber-like piece from me. I have a fondness for writing for brass instruments as their inherent qualities align well with my rhythmic musical sensibilities. As I began working on this new piece, ideas flowed effortlessly, making the entire process a joyful and unique experience.
"Brass Quintet No. 1" serves as a nostalgic tribute to my childhood, with each movement capturing a vivid and cherished memory from that time. It is a snapshot of bygone years that still hold significance today.
